I was recently asked to see a patient with presumed post viral opsoclonus. She was having severe visual disturbances and oscillopsia. I wasn’t sure what help I could offer and whether an orthoptic assessment would be beneficial. I haven’t come across this before and only know it from University and unaware of any orthoptic treatment. In the past 12 years this would be the first case of opsoclonus I have come across. Therefore I have shared some articles that helped update my knowledge on the condition. I haven’t come across any specific orthoptic treatment in the literature.
The patient’s symptoms had improved but still noticed some saccadic intrusions when I saw her. Her opsoclonus appeared more like ocular flutter however no oscillopsia she was then reviewed by the neuro-ophthalmology and discharged.
Has anyone come across this in their clinical practice?
Any orthoptic treatment or advice I could offer in future?
