Orthoptist

If you're a skilled Orthoptist with a minimum of two years' experience working in a clinical setting, looking for a lifestyle change and new career opportunities, you'll find just what you're looking for at Southern District Health Board.
At this large DHB, which serves more than 350,000 people, you'll see all types of patients and cases in a fast dynamic environment.
You'll be working as an autonomous independent practitioner at Dunedin Hospital, but with quick access to doctors and other medical staff. Those include several of New Zealand's finest Ophthalmologists, all with their own specialities, so you'll be exposed to high levels of expertise in a range of different areas at this university teaching hospital. You'll follow patient care through from start to finish, and travel regularly to Invercargill to provide services there, so it's an ideal environment to develop and grow your professional skills.
If you enjoy working with children, take note, because paediatrics is a major portion of this role. With Dunedin's new hospital in the planning stages, you've also got a once-in-a-career opportunity to be involved in creating a fantastic eye clinic for children, a child-friendly space where they - and their parents - can feel comfortable and cared for.
In fact, in this role you'll have plenty of opportunity to give your input. Our DHB and eye clinic are always open to hearing suggestions and ideas for improving patient care and exploring better ways of working.
Add to that the lifestyle you could have in Dunedin and you'll agree that this could be an excellent career move. In this small, vibrant city you'll enjoy close proximity to summer and winter outdoor sports, affordable housing and minimal traffic. As part of Southern DHB, you'll also receive assistance with relocation and initial accommodation.
What more could you ask for? With so much opportunity for professional development and the satisfaction of helping to build a true 21st-century hospital, plus the lifestyle on offer, there's truly no better time to join Southern DHB.
